Kalais' eastern neighbour shares with it both a picturesque prosperity and a love for culture, civility and fashion. Alyria's gentle rolling hills support well renowned vineyards, and the mountain ranges along their borders are rich in precious gems. Alyria is an oddity among the northern nations, as it is led by an elected council rather than an ordained noble line. Elections are held biannually and national decisions made via open forum, a system bemoaned by those who would prefer a swifter system of progress. It does however echo the methodical process of the Wizards of the Silver Spires, whose grand alabaster mage towers dot the Alyrian countryside. There are no greater scholars in the realms of esoteric magic and such potentially dangerous forces demand the most careful and studious of approaches. The most esteemed of the Wizards is Archmage Emilia Petrov who personally oversees the magical protections of the realm. Alyria has managed to maintain peaceful relations with their Umlaui neighbours to the north, which has allowed space to focus all of their military efforts securing their large border with The Deadlands. However the greatest threat to Alyria seems to be spies and saboteurs working for foreign kingdoms seeking to destabilise any notion that a country can function without a monarchy.
